These maps are also known as emergency escape plan. They are also known as fire escape plan. The primary intention of the plan is to guide the personnel trapped inside complex. These maps are pasted or screwed on wall at various locations. They are mostly installed at place which is closed one & having population of high nos. For example departments of corporate offices, control rooms, conference rooms, etc. In case of hotels these plans can be installed into each room other than lobbies & assembly points. The main content of the emergency evacuation map is location You Are Here. The plan for each floor is common except the logo of YOU ARE HERE. From location point to the fire exit the walkway is marked by arrows. The map shows locations of fire exit, fire alarm, first aid box, firefighting equipment, etc. A legend provided on the corner of map includes Emergency instructions, Emergency phone no. , location of fire exit, fire extinguisher, fire alarm point, first aid, etc.
The most likely emergency is considered an event of fire. In case of fire the electricity is switched off. Therefor the fire escape plan is printed on autoglow film so that it is visible in dark. These maps are constructed in two type’s sunboard & acrylic sandwich. Sunboard fire plan is economical. The autoglow film printed with map is laminated on sunboard having double side tape. The map is pasted on wall. In acrylic sandwich autoglow map is sandwiched between clear acrylic sheets. It is then installed on wall with stainless steel studs on four corners. Other than offering safety these boards also increase the aesthetic value. The size of the map varies depending upon size of the area. In hotel room it is A4 size whereas in lobby & walkway it is A3, A2, A1 & A0. The customer need to provide floor plan in autocad or pdf format.
