Radium paint is used for lane marking at power plant, chemical plant, textile industry, etc. In case of eventuality like fire, flooding, earth quake, etc. Power failure occurs leading to black out darkness. The lane marking done with radium paint helps evacuation of the people trapped inside the complex. The paint shop o is very much inflammable in nature. Atmost care is to be taken to prevent fire. The atmosphere inside highly toxic & flammable due to presence of thinner. The lane marking done with radium plays an important role in case of fire.
Other than disaster management radium paint is also used for instrumentation, switches, panels, etc. Which are required to glow in dark. These paints when applied on car it glows in dark in green and blue color.
Special feature: this paint is white in color in light & in the darkness it glows in radium green shade. It take about 3-4 hours to get charged by tube light & in total darkness glows about 5-6 hours.Principle of operation: the pigments in the paint absorb the light falling on it & get charged. When outer light energy level goes down it starts emitting light in green color.
Application method: Mix resin & hardner in 1: 3 ratio. Apply by spray painting method. The painting should be completed within one hour. Basecoat of white polyurethane is recommended for best results
